50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

This year is the 50th anniversary of the famous Moon Landing, made by the NASA crew on board the spacecraft, Apollo 11. On July 20th 1969, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins landed on the surface of the moon and took the first steps made by man onto the surface. They took some samples for research, walked around a bit and planted the American flag before leaving the Moon and returning back to Earth.

Space Tourism

Many companies are working on getting commercial spacecraft ready to take people on trips to outer-space for recreational purposes. There are 3 types of travel planned; orbital, within the atmosphere at about 62miles high (RSA offer flights), suborbital, in outer-space but before the orbital revolution (work being done by Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic to build spacecraft for this) and lunar, tourism to the moon.

To celebrate the Moon landing and the prospect of space tourism, we’re launching a competition for UK Primary schools for the chance to win one full year’s subscription to Empiribox.
